NESDIS Travel Information
|
|
|
This page provides guidelines for NESDIS employees and NESDIS contractors seeking
U.S. Embassy clearance for official foreign travel. By Federal law, all U.S. Government
employees and contractors traveling overseas on official Government business must
notify the U.S. Department of State of traveler's presence within a foreign country.
These country clearance requests notify the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., U.S. Embassies
and post officers abroad of traveler's proposed presence in a foreign country.
The eCountry Clearance (eCC) application provides
web-based access to a country clearance request and approval process that replaces
the existing methods of submitting and administering requests for clearance to travel
to foreign countries on official U.S. government business.
The requestor, who can be either the traveler or the administrative support person,
submits the request by selecting the country, identifying and adding traveler information,
transportation mode, dates of travel, lodging information and the correct post and
section to be notified. The request when sent must always copy
nesdis.clearances@noaa.gov.
When received at Post, the Approver can either Approve, Decline, or Request more
information for your request. An e-mail notification will be sent. It is the duty
of the requestor to monitor the response from Post which should come back within
two business days. A copy of the approved request must be submitted with the foreign
travel package. Questions or problems should be addressed to the eCC help desk at
eCCHelpDesk-DL@state.gov
